Women Crush Wednesday

I never thought i will ever make this public, but here i am writing this... I'm not embarrassed but I think it will be cringe moment if you brought this up with me, face to face.

As long as I remember, she was the prettiest girl in the colony, where I lived. She was my sister’s best friend’s older sister. She was much elder than me, I was just a six-seven-year-old kid and she had finished her school level at that time. She had dark, long, straight black hair which she usually used to

Teej

Today is Teej, for overall Hindu female either married or unmarried women, a teenager or a girl it is their festival. In this day all the women fast for the long life of their husband and unmarried girls fast so they will get a good husband and have a good future with them.  The person taking this fast will neither eat nor drink, not even a drop of water. It is believed that fasting this way god will be pleased and grant the wish of the fasting person. Since it is very unhealthy not to eat and drink for a whole day straight, priests and Gurus encourage to eat fruits and water to the person who is fasting. Health conscious people, weak women, pregnant women, elder women and ill women can eat some foods which are rated as ‘ok to eat’ like rice pudding, milk product, yoghurt, Sabudana, fruits etc. Basically don’t eat salt, meat, garlic, tomato, onion. This day women would go to the Shiva Temple and if they can they will go to Pashupatinath temple.

some hindu women performing a teej ritual

It is believed that this tradition was started by our Goddess Parvathi when she fasted for days without eating or drinking anything so she will get married to Lord Shiva. And after this she did got married to the Lord Shiva and lived happily with her husband.

The fast starts with taking a shower in the morning and wearing a pure clothes which usually means clean, washed clothes. Since it is Teej, the choice of color is Red for clothes. Married women get ready in Red Sari, beads, golds, bangles, anklet, tika, wear makeups and etc. And goes to the Temple. Then they gather around sing folk songs about Teej and dance.

At the evening, the fasting women will have to lit a diyo and pray to god again. Then they end their fast by drinking water washed from their husband’s foot, and eat only fruits as dinner.  The fast ends properly when they take bath the next day.

The Jungle Book

I know I am a little too late for the review of this movie, many people had watched and reviewed as soon as the movie came out but not me. When people say it’s a good movie I just can’t watch it right away because my hopes gets high I fear I will end up disliking the movie myself. Also I waited to watch this movie because it a movie about Mowgli and that is a concept I never really understood. I mean it’s a story about a boy and wild animals I mean how does that make sense? But then again it is just a fantasy film. Ok now let’s talk about ‘The Jungle Book’ movie.

For me movie The Jungle book is about a boy and his journey to manhood. The film starts with Mowgli running with the wolf pack he wants to continue the legacy of the wolf pack; he wants to be a wolf. But, to become a wolf, first he must accept that he is a human and he cannot fight or protect his friends and family by becoming something he is not.
We get to see his guardian Bagheera, a black panther who introduced Mowgli as a child to the wolf pack to where he is raised by wolf Raksha who is also a mother to his pups.
When Shere Khan threatens the pack, because of the Mowgli cuz he is a human child, He makes his own choice to leave the pack for good to keep his family safe.

Before leaving the jungle, the emotional scene between Raksha and Mowgli is well shot and Neel Sethi who is playing the role of Mowgli is very good actor and can make any scene and his expressions believable. I don’t know why but emotional scene of a mother always kills me inside.

Before leaving the pack Raksha says to his son Mowgli
“Never forget this, You’re mine, mine to me. No matter where you go or what they may call you, you’ll always be my son.”

Tonsils in Summer

Whenever it’s a windy day or it is raining, I get a known pain in my throat and technically it’s not even a throat, it’s my tonsils. So it was a very windy day today and rained at pre-evening it and guess who is back? My pain on tonsils,They are the worst. The people without tonsillitis are very lucky person because they don’t have to think twice what to wear and what to eat. Because if  it is chill outside and I haven’t carried my scarf with me then I would be worried for the rest of the day and no matter how hot it is outside I can’t drink cold drinks neither I can eat ice-cream because when i sleep that night it will be all ok but when i wake up the next day either i have cold, cough or my voice is gone for a day.
And sometimes i just can’t take It anymore and i go rogue and do what you like, live life in the edge eat what i have been craving cold Lassi, Ice-creams,sodas... and when i come back home i feel so guilty i drink warm water before i go to bed.

Since it is summer,

My five Youtubers

Hi my name is Anjana Bhandari and most of the people reading this either know me personally or don’t have a clue how they end up reading this article. For the last few months I’ve been watching YouTube videos because I had an exam! Don’t judge me…I know we all have been to that place where we get hooked up in YouTube instead of working. And admit that those videos watched at that time are the hilarious ones.
So I’m going to talk about those five YouTubers who made it harder for me to concentrate in my study and I’m not blaming them because they are DAMN good at what they do.

#1. Lilly Singh

Born and raised in Canada by Indian parents, Lilly Singh is known by the name iisuperwomanii in the YouTube. Indian culture and Nepali culture are somewhat similar in many ways so it is really easier for me to connect and relate the things she said. And have I told you that she is very funny in her videos and I have watched pretty much every video she had uploaded and is public in her YouTube account. And the most funniest video for me is Nicki Minaj - Anaconda | My Parents React

Six Random Things Only a Nepali Would know

I have listed six random things only a Nepali would understand.

#1 Mo:Mo

No matter which restaurant a Nepali would go, they will stare at the menu for minutes and minutes and what do they order at last?? Mo:Mo  yeah that's right no matter what time is it or where they are (of course in Nepal) there is a solid chance a Nepali would order Mo:Mo to eat. Mo:Mo is not just a food it is a lifestyle and unofficially it is a national food for city people.

#2 Relatives

Oh my god, relatives are spread like a ray of light, they are EVERYWHERE
If you are going to some social event, you might as well glue your hands together to say Namaste to everyone because everyone attending that event is either your relatives or your relative's relatives. So
whenever you go to some social function then you get to know how strong your mother's memory is because she can remember her cousin's uncle's wife's grandfather's aunt's neighbor's daughter, and makes us to greet them.

#3 Gundruk ra Bhat

This might be crazy but never in my life i have met a person who haven't ate or tasted gundruk ra bhat of course if you are below one year.

#4 Buddha was born in
